Respect Miners

Listen Later

Years and years on top of years, handed down the fear of fears.

Take a breath. Hold it long. Because we're here.

When the Sago mine collapsed in West Virginia, I built the site that helped the families—through the West Virginia Council of Churches.

The governor pointed the whole state to it.

People donated. People remembered.

“I live out west now, but I grew up there.”

“My granddad was a coal miner.”

“Here’s something to help.”

I read every comment. Every story. Every ache.

It was an outpouring of generosity, grief, and pride.

Miners don’t need your pity.

They need your respect.

You think you’re better than them?

Go underground.

Breathe the dust. Feel the weight.

Then talk.

Say one bad word about a miner—

Tell them to “learn to code”—

You’re not just wrong. You’re lost.

This isn’t just labor.

It’s legacy. It’s pain. It’s dignity.

Get off your high horse.

Peacecast out.
