One of the challenges that teachers face is instilling a sense of respect in children. For this reason, conduct grades once evaluated a child on how well he or she “respects others.” The Bible also teaches the need for respect, both in attitudes toward God and fellow humans. One area, in particular, is the respect God demands for humans to have toward the opposite sex. This coming Sunday, a sermon entitled, “Respects Others” will explore the teachings of Jesus on purity of mind toward others. This study will focus on the responsibility of the thinker to keep his or her thoughts pure as well as how we can keep from presenting ourselves as stumbling blocks.
