Chosen Vessels Pray Podcast

Rest in Your Season of Steadfast Restoration!

Listen Later

Good day, Chosen Vessels, my name is Maria E. White, and I

am your host of “Take the Plunge, PRAY: Prayer Break, which is a
“Meditative Moment.” I invite you to take a prayer break, to Pause. Reflect.
Ask. Yield and spend time with God. As we take time out of our day to “Take the
Plunge, PRAY.”  We pause during this meditative moment to give thanks
and praise the Lord. We reflect on His goodness as the day winds
down.  As you “Take the Plunge, PRAY” challenge,  take a moment to
pause and focus on your breathing. Put your worries to rest and give thanks to
God for, as the saying goes, "just for Him being a good, good
Father."

May was Mental Health Awareness Month and I want us to remember to take time to care

for ourselves every day but let us pay special attention to Saturdays. Let us
make Saturdays a day to be a day of Self-Care, going forward!  Spend time
with God and yourself! Play some good music and reflect on the
goodness of the Lord!

For this meditative moment, I ask you to join me for a time to pause, reflect, and

breathe so that your body, mind, and spirit can find rest. Your soul will be at
peace during this meditative moment as we pause, breathe, and PRAY God’s Word
and ask God to help us zero in on what He requires of us to do right now.
In this episode titled, “Rest in Your Season of Steadfast Restoration!” we will
spend some time reflecting on God's Word through the Passion Transition as well
as the ESV and the CEV for Psalm 30. We will use God's Word to help us through
life's experiences one chat or episode at a time during our time together.

The Psalm speaks of the healing power of the Lord and the power of rest. In the

word restoration," one finds rest. The word "rest" appears over
two hundred times in the Bible. In the Bible, the word "rest" means
to relax in peace; it also implies people's mourning for the dead. Most uses of
the noun and verbs in the Bible are nontheological. However, the verb and noun
take on theological and/or spiritual meanings about God, to the people of both
the old and new covenants and to individual believers under both covenants.

When I looked up the word rest," it means to cease work or movement to relax,

refresh oneself, or recover strength, i.e., "he needed to rest after the
feverish activity." Some synonyms were: relax, let up, slow down, pause,
unbend, repose, laze, idle, loaf, and more. This made me think about the
purpose of our time together and the Lord's instruction to me to single out
time to meditate on His Word. As you may recall, I provided you with a
definition of meditation. Please allow me to refresh your memory. Meditation is
the practice of using your thoughts to focus on a specific idea, concept, or
feeling. It is the act of calming your mind and body to allow for greater
clarity of thought and awareness. Through meditation, one can gain a greater
understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The appointed quiet time can be used to practice this form of meditation. Let us
recall some words used to define rest. "Relax, slow down, and our first
word, which is to take time to pause? The song that I so love that I learned of
a few months ago from Alexander Pappas, Pause (live performance video). Pause
means to hold back, to delay, A temporary stop or rest; an intermission of
action; interruption; suspension; cessation 2. (n.) Temporary inaction or waiting; hesitation; suspense;
doubt.

Restoration in the Bible means to bring something back to a former or original state,

especially the divine relationship with God. It is a recurring theme in
scripture and is linked to Christ's return and involves making restitution or
expressing satisfaction for something taken or wronged.
