Everything in creation was designed to need rest. In fact, God Himself modeled and instituted the Sabbath - a time to set aside a portion of the week to rest and worship. When we trust God more than ourselves to provide the "green pastures" we are looking for, our soul is recharged, aligning our emotions, thoughts and decisions with His Spirit.
