The goal of restoration should be to connect at a heart level and let God work on the surface issues.

A look at different points to restore erring people.

1. Look for ways to make connections.

2. Lay down the reason it happened and focus on the rescue.

3. Help to not just work quickly through the issue to find the old normal. Take time, build trust, make restitution etc.

4. Use word pictures that reframe the actions of the erring brother to jog their thinking.

5. Don't try to be the person that has all the answers. Be the person who listens. Ask questions.

6. Be honest if not the best fit. Let someone else help.

7. Sometimes part of restoration is helping the elder brother accept the prodigal back home.
