On Easter Sunday pastor Nathan discusses how Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead and reveals himself as the embodiment of resurrection life. Dietrich Bonhoeffer reminds us that “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die,” and as we allow the things that are not of God to die within us and around us, we make room for God to breathe newness into us and our world. Just as Jesus allowed Lazarus to die because he knew that death would not have the last word, this sermon encourages us to believe that death does not have the last word on our stories either.
