The first followers responded to the crucifixion as if the end of Jesus’ life was the end of His work.  Without the resurrection, the death of Christ would be a long-forgotten end of a movement that stopped with the burial of its leader.  After the empty tomb, the disciples went from conceding death to an unstoppable force for advancing the message of life in Christ.
