The cruelty and despair of paganism was shattered by the joy and love that sprang forth from the empty tomb. The world was changed forever. But now, in the long aftermath of Christendom, love and joy found in a resurrected Saviour are no longer the guiding principles of the west. Instead, our Post-Christian world prefers to warm itself by the fires of freedom and knowledge. Will freedom of the will and a commitment to scientific knowledge as the ultimate truth bring humanity salvation? I have my doubts.
