A team of military researchers at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division – Patuxent River invented an over-the-shoulder retention harness that features two connection points. The front connector securely anchors the gunner to a solid forward mount on the boat.The back of the harness features a special connector made of braided steel cable threaded through durable beads. This rear retention point forms a U shape that is looped around a metal bar where it can slide, which allows the gunner limited movement. The military invention is available for commercial license.
