Re:thinking the Institution “Speculative Values: Between the Institution and the NFT” Event

"Co-organized by Rhizome and interdisciplinary contemporary arts organization Kadist, Speculative Values asks to what extent the work of arts institutions might be propelled forward using blockchain-based digital cooperatives known as DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations). Gathering artists, developers, and thinkers for a series of conversations and presentations, Speculative Values considers the apparent contradictions inherent in these forms, which are both financialized and cooperative; how these relate to the contradictions involved in traditional institutional models; and how these contradictions might play out in the future. "
