I just watched Murder by Death for the first time, the 1976 comedy starring an all-star cast of classic detectives invited to a mansion for dinner and MURDER! While it had some passably fun moments (James Coco’s portly Belgian sleuth being the stand-out) I spent a lot of the runtime confused. The blind-butler gags didn’t land for me, the constant “just kidding” plot twists never quite connected, and the ending left me wondering if there even was a real murder. I’m looking forward to unpacking my full rating on our upcoming episode on the Retro Rewind Podcast.[Human edited AI summary]
