After 70 years of captivity, God keeps His promises and bring the people back to the land of promise. Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah lead 3 waves of captives back, but each effort ends with an anticlimax. Even with the prophets Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi supporting and rebuking the people, we are left at the end of the Old Testament longing for something more--a King who will come to redeem the hearts of His people.
