Hosea 6:1 says: "Come, let us return to the LORD; for He has torn us, that He may heal us; He has struck us down, and He will bind us up." (ESV) Hosea was a prophet during the demise of Israel, the northern tribes specifically. His prophecies were both poetic and cryptic, as God's people had abandoned The One who begat them and loved them. And yet God's plea to His people, through His prophet, is for them to return. He wants those who turned away, wandered off, who chased after false gods, to come back! Then begs the question, Has God's heart changed towards those who are estranged from Him now? Is there an open invitation towards those who've deliberately become runaways, who are held captive and enslaved, to return to God? And if so, what lengths, what price, what ransom, is He willing to pay to have His children, all of His children, to return Home?
