  • Episode 7: A Little Outside My Comfort Zone: Sharing My Book, Return to North

This week's episode is a little different and a little more personal. ❤️

I'm sharing something I'm incredibly excited about, but also something that makes me feel vulnerable: my new book, Return to North: For the Woman Who Holds Everything Together and Is Learning to Make Room for Herself.

Join me as I read a few passages from the book, share the experiences behind the words, and reflect on what it means to step outside our comfort zones, listen to ourselves, and take one steady step even when we don't feel completely ready.

If you've ever been the woman who holds everything together while quietly wondering what you need, this episode is for you.

  • Episode 6: The Woman Who Can Handle Everything

What happens when being capable becomes so much a part of your identity that you forget you’re allowed to have limits?

In this episode of Return to North, I share personal stories about missed appointments, triathlon training, and learning to accept support—and what they taught me about the difference between being capable and having unlimited capacity.

Together, we explore how to recognize when we’re carrying too much, respond with compassion instead of criticism, and make room for rest without giving up the ambition and strength we love about ourselves.

If you’re the woman everyone turns to, this conversation is an invitation to ask: What do I need—and is all of this mine to carry?

  • You Don’t Have to Feel Calm to Be in North | Connection, Drifting & Coming Back to Yourself

    Link-https://still-grounded-labs.com/

What if returning to North isn’t about becoming calm?

In this episode of the Return to North™ Podcast, Amanda explores how her understanding of North has evolved. North is not the absence of sadness, anger, anxiety, overwhelm, excitement, or joy. It is having enough connection to yourself to notice what you are feeling, make space for it, and respond to what you need.

Amanda also explores the idea of drifting, the quiet ways we can move away from ourselves while still functioning, working, parenting, leading, and getting everything done. The goal is not to never drift. The practice is learning to notice sooner.

You’ll also hear why joy matters just as much as the harder emotions, and how slowing down enough to notice what feels good can be part of returning to yourself too.

    In this episode:

    • Why North does not mean “calm all the time”
    • The difference between regulation and suppressing emotion
    • How drifting can happen quietly in everyday life
    • Why noticing creates space for choice
    • Making room for sadness, anger, exhaustion, joy, and everything in between
    • A simple check-in to help you reconnect with yourself

North is not the absence of emotion. It is the presence of connection.

  • When You’re West: Tired, Flat and Running on Empty

What happens when you’re still functioning, still showing up, still getting things done… but inside, you feel flat, exhausted, and disconnected?

In this episode of Return to North™, Amanda explores West: the direction on the compass that can feel like running on empty.

West does not always arrive dramatically. Sometimes it sneaks up on us.

Sometimes it comes after stress, grief, caregiving, or difficult seasons.

And sometimes it comes during seasons filled with good things.

In this episode, Amanda shares a personal story from a period of her life when she was parenting, teaching, training for a half-Ironman, presenting professionally, building a new relationship, and filling her days with things she genuinely loved.

From the outside, life looked full and exciting.

Inside, her body was becoming increasingly depleted.

    You’ll hear about:

    • what West can feel like
    • why capable people can keep functioning long after their capacity has dropped
    • the difference between “I can do this” and “this is sustainable for me”
    • why good stress still counts as load
    • early signs of depletion
    • what West may actually need
    • why rest is not something you have to earn

This episode is a reminder that you do not have to wait until your body forces you to stop before you listen.

Sometimes returning to North begins by asking:

What could I give myself less of?
What could I give myself more of?
What do I need right now?

  • When You’re East: Wired, Rushing & Always “On"

What does it feel like when your nervous system has its foot on the gas?

In this episode of Return to North™, Amanda explores East, the activated direction on the Return to North Compass.

East can look like rushing, overthinking, checking, solving, multitasking, feeling tense, or moving through the day with a constant sense of urgency.

    And the tricky part?

You can still look incredibly productive while you’re there.

Amanda shares what East used to look like in her own mornings: coffee, workouts, kids, lunches, emails, texts, work, problem-solving, and hours of rushing before the day had really begun.

She also explains, in simple terms, how East can overlap with sympathetic nervous-system activation, and why the goal is not to eliminate activation, but to become better at noticing when we’re stuck there and finding our way back toward rest, recovery, and choice.

In this episode, you’ll reflect on:

    • What East feels like in your body
    • Your personal “tells”
    • Why everything can start to feel urgent
    • How transitions can help interrupt stress
    • What might help you come down just one notch

You do not need to become perfectly calm.

You just need enough space to notice, orient, and choose what comes next.

  • Where Are You Right Now? | The Return to North™ Compass Check

In the very first episode of Return to North™, Amanda introduces the simple question at the heart of the entire framework:

Where am I right now, and what do I need?

We spend so much of our lives moving, helping, deciding, working, parenting, leading, and keeping everything going that it can become surprisingly easy to lose track of ourselves along the way.

In this episode, you’ll learn about the Return to North™ Compass and the four directions we can find ourselves in:

🧭 North — steady and able to choose
⚡ East — activated, anxious, rushing or overthinking
🌊 South — overwhelmed by big emotions
🌙 West — depleted, flat or running on empty

The goal isn’t to stay North all the time.

It’s to notice when you’ve drifted, become curious about what you need, and begin finding your way back to steady.

You’ll also be guided through a simple Compass Check-In you can begin using in everyday life.

Your next step: Take the free Return to North™ Compass Check and leave your email to receive your results and guidance for what you may need next.

Because you don’t need to know the whole way forward.

You just need to know where you are.
