Jacob met the Lord in Bethel where he saw angels ascending and descending. Not too long, he forgot the encounter and soon dwelled at Shechem, whereas God has told him He had given him and his generation Bethel for inheritance. Jacob's life followed a downward path since he moved to Shechem. God did not forget. He came back for Jacob and instructed him to go back to Bethel. Jacob obeyed the Divine instruction and he was greatly blessed for it.
