Rev. Jennifer Cormier - Redefining Grief

Listen Later

In this episode, Frances and Reverend Jennifer Cormier talked about how to navigate through grief and loss in life.

Jennifer believes that when we shift our perspective, include our bodies in our grieving process, and see grief as a creative collaborator in our lives, we open the door to healing and peace.

Show Notes:

Grief in Perspective: Grief as woven in with the celebration. It's like living a life that has a full range. (00:47)

Grief Work: How helping other people move through, through really big losses in life and getting to the other side and find peace and connection, and start living again as well. (05:34)

Definition of Grief: It is a transformational healing process. It is an opportunity to do some of the deepest healing work of my life.  (07:08)

Grief is a Journey: It is a journey that we can walk through all of the cycles and all the seasons internally and externally, to really live a richer life. (08:07)

Quotes:

Grief really gave me an opportunity to do some of the deepest healing work of my life. And now I see grief as more of a container, like a big basket or a big tapestry. (07:15)

A beautiful life, just like a really beautifully done photograph has all of the different gradations in between. And I think it's really about living well is about grieving well, celebrating well, and experiencing the peaceful neutral moments in between. (13:21)

It's so important to allow the body to do what it naturally wants to do, and not to push it to be neutral or to do the opposite. (27:46)

Lead with your heart, lead with your whole body, and slow down and see what happens. (47:54)
