To discern the Lord’s body means to rightly recognize, understand, and treat with reverence what the body of the Lord represents, especially during the Lord’s Supper (Communion).
1. The Holy Communion can only be potent when there is soberness, holiness and reverence for what the communion represents not for other purposes (1 Corinthians 11:17, 20).
2. The Holy Communion can only be potent when there is unity amongst the members of the church. The power of communion is often than not neutralized by divisions or disunity (1 Corinthians 11:18).
3. Whenever you eat the holy communion, you are reinforcing the covenant of the New Testament.
4. Whenever you eat the holy communion, you are showing, announcing, declaring or identifying with the death of God.
