Today we’re talking about Apple’s visionOS 26 update and its newly improved Personas. For months, our author’s Slack avatar was a screenshot of their “incredibly cursed Vision Pro persona” — hair like a solid block, head cocked back, cackling into the pixelated void. But after Apple announced better floating avatars, they finally created one — and the end result is “vastly improved.” Hair now looks like hair, you can see eyelashes and skin texture, and “it was even able to capture my nose contour makeup.” Side profiles feel more natural, free from that flattened, PlayStation 2-era look. It’s also easier to tweak lighting, skin tone, and even glasses. The biggest win? “When I laugh and my eyes scrunch up, I no longer look like a caricature of myself.”

In other demos, they launched themselves to a virtual moon of Jupiter, checked out improved spatial videos from action cams, and explored Apple’s new widget wall — a permanent, editable panel for album art, Reminders, and smart home controls. If you’re already on board with virtual spaces, visionOS 26 could be your best yet.
