By Apostle Aje Pelser, with notes from Gordon Lindsay.
Pentecost is a day that marks the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the Birth of the Christian Church. It is the 50th day from the first Passover Sabbath. 50 Days after Jesus became our Passover Lamb slain for the sins of mankind. It is also the 50th day after the presentation of the first sheaf of the Barley harvest in Israel. The Hebrew “feast of weeks” is a “day of first fruits.”
Exo 34:22 “And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, of the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year’s end.
Num. 28:26 ‘Also on the day of the first fruits, when you bring a new grain offering to the LORD at your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work.
“The purpose of this feast was to commemorate the completion of the grain harvest. Its distinguishing feature was the offering of “two leavened loaves” made from the new corn of the completed harvest, which, with two lambs, were waved before the Lord as a thank offering.”
As Harvesters this should make a lot of sense to us! There are times of sowing and there are times of reaping the harvest. There is a time of Passover and sacrifice and then that grain of wheat that has fallen to the ground and died starts to live again and bear fruit, 30, 60 and 100 fold.
If we read about the day of Pentecost in the book of Acts, we can extract revelations that will release the fullness of the Holy Spirit experience.
Act 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
