Nahed Al-Qaffas was an Egyptian woman who dreamed of stability and a dignified life. After years of hardship, she finally found financial security through a respectful marriage, believing she had escaped poverty and uncertainty. That sense of safety collapsed when she later became involved with Elhamy Farag, a charming man who presented himself as a successful businessman with influence and wealth.
Elhamy’s image was an illusion. After marrying Nahed, he systematically took control of her money and properties, selling her assets and draining everything she owned. What began as deception soon turned into psychological abuse, leaving her isolated, powerless, and trapped. The situation reached its breaking point when Nahed discovered his attempt to assault her daughter, transforming fear and humiliation into a desperate instinct to protect.
Driven by rage, terror, and a sense that no escape remained, Nahed planned her revenge. She drugged Elhamy, then killed him, and dismembered his body using a cleaver. The act was violent and shocking, but it emerged from years of manipulation, betrayal, and extreme provocation.
During her trial, the full truth about Elhamy’s past was revealed. He was exposed as a serial fraud who had deceived and financially ruined many other women using the same methods. Public sympathy grew as Nahed’s story unfolded, and her crime came to be seen not as cold-blooded violence, but as the final collapse of a woman pushed beyond her limits.
The court ultimately acknowledged the circumstances surrounding the killing. While Nahed was held responsible for her actions, her sentence was reduced from death to fifteen years in prison, closing one of the most emotionally complex criminal cases in Egyptian history.
