Review: A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge

Listen Later

We say goodbye to 2020 with a review of A Fire Upon the Deep, a classic Sci-Fi novel that is less well known to the literary community at large.  We discuss the singularity, alien consciousness and whether or not Vinge's portrayal of the internet in 1992 foreshadowed the problems we face today.
This is the second novel in our Transhumanist Sci-Fi series. Want to talk about A Fire Upon the Deep? Join our book club discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CanonicalPod where you can also find show notes, credits and extended discussions for every episode.
