Review of "A Quiet Place: Day One": Moody sequel surpasses original

Listen Later

Unlike other prequels, Day One escapes the temptation to overcrowd the series with extraneous filler. I think it's better that we still don't know a lot about the monsters' beginnings. Even though this time around we get to see more shots of them, their terrible presence is maintained. Sam quickly picks up some crucial facts, such the fact that hiding and remaining motionless are good ways to avoid them. Plus, sounds can be masking sounds, thus it's safe to chat behind a giant fountain when water is gushing out of it. It's all basically seen in the other films, but Sarnoski is smart to refrain from establishing any new guidelines. As my uncle used to say, "Don't fix what ain't broke."
