Revisiting West Africa after the coups

Yesterday (Monday) West Africa's main regional bloc ECOWAS decided to set up a committee of heads of state to work with Niger's military leaders on establishing a transition roadmap, and will progressively ease the sanctions imposed on Niger based on the outcome of those talks. On Sunday the regional leaders met in Nigeria's capital Abuja for talks on their region in deepening crisis, after four countries fell under military rule. What has also emerged in that part of the world is that the four countries that are under military rule are also getting rid of French domination with Burkina Faso even changing French as the official language in schools and also building a gold refinery through a Russian partnership.
