Revival is not an event scheduled on a church calendar. It is the name given to what already happened to you the moment you believed.

This teaching works through the etymology of "revival" to establish something precise: that reviving is the verb and revival is the noun, meaning revival is not a future occurrence but a past action with a present name. The session traces the word back through its French and Latin roots, where "vivre" means to live, to show that to revive is to restore to life, consciousness, and strength. From there, the argument moves to redemption as a parallel structure, where the "re" in both words signals a return to original evaluation, original intention, original regard. The believer is not waiting to be revived. The believer has been revived, and that condition is called revival.
