King David had many marriages and many children, Absalom was his third son from a a foreign woman named Maca. She was the daughter of king Gersur of Syria Absolom had a grudge against his father and started to do politics and stole the hearts of many using flattery. King David told Ittai that he had no reason to run away with him since he wasn’t a Jew. Itai had no debt with David but he was willing to sacrifice everything for his King. This is a contrast between Ittai and Absolom. Absolom was alive because of David but had no gratitude in his heart, no loyalty. LOYALTY IS PROVEN WHEN THERE ARE NO PROMISSES OF REWARDS
