Rewriting the stories we tell and the ones we were told
The stories we believe shape our lives; even the ones we discard influence us. But what about the stories we boldly decide to rewrite?
This past year, I decided that many of my personal narratives were not serving me — they were even harmful at points. Ronna Detrick and I uncover the root of some of our personal stories and how they've influenced us, whether they emerge from sacred spiritual texts, mythology, history, or stories passed down through family. Story is our collective language and it has greater influence on us than we might realize. Investigating long-held tales and revising them where appropriate can be powerful.

Guest Bio:
Ronna Detrick left the church and its dogma nearly twenty years ago but took the stories of women with her. Over the past two decades she has reimagined these sacred texts, peeled back centuries of patriarchal harm, and given the women within the voice, agency, and honor they have always deserved.
Ronna combines her Master of Divinity degree with decades of coaching and spiritual direction, training and public speaking, corporate leadership and entrepreneurship. She shocked and delighted her audience in her provocative TEDx presentation, where she turned the traditional biblical story of Eve on its head, challenged the embedded and assumed doctrine, and presented an Eve who inspires and empowers women instead of shaming and silencing them.
After living most of her life in the Pacific Northwest, she is now just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean in Hampstead, NC, where she writes, drinks strong coffee, has beautiful conversations with her clients, and cannot be dissuaded from the belief that her two daughters are the most amazing humans on the planet.
