Welcome back to The Restricted Handling Podcast! In this episode, we're diving into the latest geopolitical drama that's shaking up the world stage, from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine to the explosive Middle East tensions. Buckle up, because things are getting intense!

First, we're talking about the unexpected role Ukraine is playing in the US-Israel-Iran war. Yep, you heard that right. While Ukraine's been locked in a brutal fight with Russia for five years, President Zelensky is now sending drone-defense specialists and interceptor drones to protect US military bases in Jordan. Why Ukraine? Because no one on earth has more experience fighting Iranian-designed Shahed drones than the Ukrainians. It's a real-world lesson in how Ukraine is leveraging its expertise to get the military aid it desperately needs—especially in the form of advanced air-defense missiles. Talk about geopolitical bartering in real-time.

But that's just the start. We also dig into the Russia-Iran alliance, which is deeper than you might think. With reports surfacing that Russia may have shared intel about US military assets in the region, it's clear Moscow is still very much in the mix, even if they're not directly involved in the fighting. But don't think Russia's upset about the conflict—it could actually play right into their hands. Rising oil prices are already giving Russia's war economy a nice boost, which isn't exactly the worst news for the Kremlin.

We then turn our attention to the battlefield in Ukraine, where Russia's offensive efforts aren't producing the gains they were hoping for. In fact, Ukrainian forces are pushing back hard in key sectors like Zaporizhzhia. But that's not the only battle taking place—drone warfare is absolutely dominating the skies, with both sides launching massive aerial attacks that are changing the face of modern combat.

We also take a closer look at some of the ripple effects of this war spilling over into NATO territory. Polish fighter jets were scrambled after Russian long-range aviation launched missiles near NATO airspace. It's a reminder of just how close the war is to the alliance's borders, and how much more of an international problem this could become if things escalate.

Finally, we wrap things up with an update on sanctions. Sweden recently boarded a Russian ship suspected of being part of Russia's shadow fleet, trying to bypass sanctions and keep those illicit operations running. It's just another piece of the economic warfare happening behind the scenes while the frontlines keep on burning.
