RH 9.11.25 | Russia Drones, NATO Jets, Poland on Edge

Listen Later

Welcome back to The Restricted Handling Podcast, where we break down the most important developments in international security, military affairs, and geopolitics with high energy, clarity, and a bit of punch. Today’s episode dives into one of the most dramatic turns in the war yet: Russia’s drones crossing into Poland and NATO finally firing back.

Here’s the bottom line: Russian drones didn’t just brush the border—they pushed deep into Polish airspace for seven straight hours. Poland says at least 19 drones made the incursion, Ukrainian officials say the number could be even higher, and NATO confirmed fighters were scrambled. This was history in the making. For the first time ever, NATO jets engaged hostile targets directly over allied skies. Think Polish F-16s, Dutch F-35s, German Patriots, and Italian AWACS all joining in. That’s not just another Tuesday night in Europe—that’s a first-in-75-years kind of moment.

We break down the hardware, too. Russia wasn’t just throwing its usual Shaheds. It deployed Gerbera drones—cheap plywood decoys designed to mimic Shaheds and saturate defenses. Some flight paths suggest they were aimed at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, NATO’s major logistics hub for Ukraine, which makes this look a lot less like “oops” and a lot more like deliberate probing.

Of course, Moscow and Minsk denied everything. Russia said their drones couldn’t even reach Poland, while Belarus blamed “electronic warfare interference.” Meanwhile, Russian bloggers ran with the propaganda, claiming it was Ukraine’s fault—or worse, demanding Russia hit Poland harder next time. Classic Kremlin gaslighting.

We also cover the political fallout: Poland invoked NATO’s Article 4, European leaders slammed Moscow, and Zelenskyy demanded a joint European air shield to protect the continent. Airports in Poland shut down temporarily, airlines rerouted flights, and aviation experts warned this could change how Europe manages its skies.

And while Poland was dealing with drones overhead, Ukraine faced one of the largest Russian air and missile barrages of the war—more than 400 projectiles launched in one night. Ukraine managed to shoot most of them down, but some hit infrastructure and civilians.

On top of all this, we dig into nuclear threats from Kremlin talking heads, India’s ongoing role as Russia’s economic lifeline, and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s reported health struggles. Plus, Ukraine is holding Russia accountable for past crimes, filing suspicions against Moscow’s security chiefs for their role in the Maidan crackdown back in 2013–14.

It’s a packed episode, and we keep it fast, sharp, and real. From NATO jets firing in anger to Russia’s nuclear saber-rattling, this is the frontline of global security right now.

Hit play, strap in, and let’s get into it.
