RH 9.19.25 | China Nukes, TikTok, Mines, Soybeans, and AI

Listen Later

China’s bringing the heat—and we’re breaking it all down. In this episode of The Restricted Handling Podcast, we dive into Beijing’s flex across the military, tech, trade, and diplomacy fronts. From nuclear parades to TikTok deal-making, China is playing hardball on every level, and the world is watching.

We kick things off with Xi Jinping showing off the full nuclear triad for the first time—land, sea, and air delivery systems marching down Beijing’s avenues. That’s not just a parade; it’s a statement to Washington, Taipei, and anyone else paying attention. Add in the new Fujian aircraft carrier sailing through the Taiwan Strait and the reveal of the AJX002 underwater minelaying drone, and you’ve got a clear message: blockades, pressure campaigns, and deterrence are very much in play.

But the action doesn’t stop at sea. The Yuan Wang 5 missile tracking ship has cruised into the Indian Ocean, raising alarms in New Delhi and Washington. This high-tech surveillance platform can monitor missile launches and even provide targeting data for Chinese anti-ship systems. Meanwhile, up in orbit, U.S. and Chinese satellites are literally photographing each other, a high-stakes staring contest in space.

And then there’s TikTok—the app that’s been at the center of political fights for years. Trump and Xi are poised to cut a deal that lets U.S. investors like Oracle take control of U.S. operations while ByteDance keeps the secret sauce in Beijing. For Xi, TikTok isn’t the prize—it’s the pawn. The real plays are tariffs, chips, and Taiwan.

Speaking of chips, China is swinging back. New probes into U.S. semiconductor firms, restrictions on Nvidia, and frozen soybean orders are Beijing’s way of saying, “Two can play this game.” Farmers in the Midwest are now part of the U.S.-China rivalry, whether they like it or not.

On the global stage, Beijing is filling the vacuum as the U.S. pulls funding from the UN and other agencies. Xi is pitching a new “Global Governance Initiative,” while also locking in deals with smaller nations like the Cook Islands. It’s soft power, Chinese-style, and it’s working.

We also dig into China’s tech surge. AI developer DeepSeek revealed it trained a powerful model for just $294,000, shaking up the global AI race. Meanwhile, Pony AI says it’ll be profitable by early 2026 with a fleet of robotaxis rolling out across megacities.

From nukes and minelayers to soybeans and TikTok, this episode covers it all. Buckle up—China’s making moves on every front, and the U.S. is scrambling to keep pace.
