Rhode Island Weather 3/8 Morning - Rain Starting 3 AM

Listen Later

Good morning. Rhode Island. I'm Michael Nally.
Step outside right now and you'll feel 49 degrees. That's 25 degrees warmer than normal for early March. Spring is knocking on the door. And tomorrow, we're letting it in.
Any leftover showers wrap up by mid-morning. Then patchy fog settles in, especially near the coast. Providence climbs to 57 this afternoon. Down along Narragansett Bay, that ocean breeze holds you back at 52. Southwest winds run around 8 to 14 miles an hour.
Tonight brings the setup for something special. Skies clear out and temperatures drop to 35 degrees statewide.
Monday is the star of the week. Sunshine takes over and Providence soars to 64 degrees. The Bay reaches 55, cooler thanks to that southerly flow off the water. We haven't seen warmth like this since last fall. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me.
Tuesday stays gorgeous — sunny with highs near 63. Wednesday brings clouds as a low pressure system approaches the Great Lakes. That pulls moisture overhead and holds us in the upper 50s.
Thursday is when things flip. Rain arrives with gusty winds — southwest gusts hit 28 miles an hour. Temperatures reach 57 before a cold front crashes through. Rain transitions to snow in the high terrain Thursday night as temperatures plunge to 25 degrees. Friday brings partly sunny skies and a high of 43. The weekend looks unsettled with a chance of rain and snow showers.
One more thing — don't forget to spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time. You'll lose an hour of sleep, but gain an hour of evening light.
See you this afternoon.
