In today's episode of EDJ Podcast, we interview Richard R. Brooks, a professor of computer engineering in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, USA. Richard. R Brooks is part of the Internet Freedom in West Africa project where he works on making internet anonymity accessible to journalists and bloggers in West Africa. The program terminated in 2016 and its technical products were taken over by the Internet Without Borders NGO. The program enabled the Africtivistes movement, League of African Bloggers, and Cyber-Activists for Democracy to come into existence.
In this interview, Richard talks about his unique stories around internet security, the journalistic climate in West Africa, and what Internet anonymity means for society.
