America is flunking math. The U.S. ranks towards the bottom of all developed countries in mathematical achievement. In fact, our education system can't even develop our own STEM/tech workforce, with the majority of U.S. tech workers filled by virtual international sources.
I talk with Richard Ruscyk the CEO of Art of Problem Solving (https://artofproblemsolving.com/), a site with online tools to help kids get involved. The Art of Problem Solving works closely with Kahn Academy which has used their tools.
He points out that we don't do a good job of finding and developing kids who have an interest in math. We discuss the "digital divide" as well as the differences between boys and girls.
