Sometimes the way forward doesn't arrive as certainty. Even in our darkest moments, we can still find small possibilities. A crack in the door. A shift in the wind.

When we feel lost, disconnected, or far from home, sometimes all we need is a voice offering some hope and a little encouragement to find a way to begin again.

Every once in a while, I like to write a song that sounds as though it might have been written in the 1930s or ’40s. My grandfather was a songwriter during that era, so maybe some of it found its way down to me.

This is a simple song, although it took me a surprisingly long time to find the right words for the B section. Harmonically, it uses ♭VImaj7 and ♭IIImaj7 chords. In the outro, I put the seventh of each chord in the bass, which creates a sound I really like.
