In this Right Now Diary entry, I had to have a real conversation with myself.

I realized I was resisting being who I naturally am… light, joy, and connection. Because I wasn’t happy with my current situation, I allowed myself to become quiet, withdrawn, and dismayed. And that’s not me.

And I had to ask myself… how dare I?

How dare I not show up as who God has called me to be, regardless of my circumstances?

I thought Thursday was going to be the day I finally went home.

After weeks in rehab, I had been praying, hoping, and preparing for the moment my doctor would clear me. Instead, I was told I couldn’t go home… and my recovery would be extended.

But what started as disappointment turned into something unexpected.

For the first time in weeks, I got outside. Real sunshine. Fresh air. A break from the walls. And somewhere in the middle of that freedom, I came up with a plan… to break out of rehab.

Yes. A real plan.

Did it work? Not exactly.

But what I got that day was something I didn’t even realize I needed.

This is a Right Now Diary… a real moment, happening in real time.

And this one? It’s about disappointment, joy, a failed escape plan… and the reminder that sometimes the day you didn’t plan ends up being exactly what you needed.
