Romans chapter 3 is one of the most uplifting and exciting passages in the Bible. In the preceding chapters of Romans Paul has exposed the unrighteousness of human beings and the terrible position that the whole world is in.

Being a Jew or even an especially religious person makes no difference. A great dark cloud of judgement hangs over humanity. What will be done? The answer, of course is that God has made a way and so chapter 3 begins with the words ‘but now’.
