'Rights in Crisis', is a new RightsUp series from the Oxford Human Rights Hub in collaboration with the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development. The series will feature topics on human rights and related issues in India with experts sharing their insights.
In this episode Dr. Janaki Srinivasan and Prof. Sandra Feldman, moderated by Dr Aradhana Cherupara Vadekkethil, discuss the nature of the Indian gig economy and how it affects workers’ rights. This conversation explores the precarious conditions of gig workers in India, the legal frameworks shaping their rights, and the broader implications of platform economies on labour protections. With rising digital employment, questions of fair wages, job security, and social protections are more pressing than ever.
