In which a poor charcoal-burner named Nikobob discovers a mysterious pair of shoes lost near the royal palace and unwittingly uses their magical power to defeat the fearful forest beast Choggenmugger, much to the amazement of his family. Meanwhile, his daughter Zella delights in her new footwear and, protected from the angry bees of the forest, prepares to embark on a honey-gathering journey to the City of Coregos.
