Riot Rewind: Roster Cuts
The fourth and final preseason game for the Panthers is in the books with the Steelers walking away with a last-minute scoring touchdown with seconds on the clock, defeating the Panthers 17-14. During the exhibition, which included 4 Panthers turnovers, Wide Receiver Curtis Samuel and Cornerback Zack Sanchez left the game with injuries.
Unlike in the past where NFL teams would trim their rosters from 90 to 75 and then to 53 all cuts are now happening before 4PM on September 2nd.
So far, as of this recording on Friday afternoon, the following players have been released:
Offense:
WAIVED
POS PLAYERS
TE Bryce Williams
CB Devonte Johnson
DT Gabriel Mass
DE Arthur Miley
C Brian Folkerts
DT Connor Wujciak (I did the best I could with it)
DE Efe Obada
Terminated
WR Trevor Graham
CB Zack Sanchez was waive-injured.
To injured reserve:
OT Dan France
OL David Yankey
CB Teddy Williams
WR Fred Ross
TE Scott Simonson
As Bryan Strickland at Panthers.com notes:
Efe Obada didn’t count toward the 90-man roster and is now free to sign with any team. As a fledgling member of the league’s International Player Pathway Program, he may be signed to any other team’s roster or 10-man practice squad after cuts, or he could be an exempt 11th member of the Panthers’ practice squad who then wouldn’t be eligible for promotion to the 53-man roster.
