Rip Hunter is the preeminent time-traveling character in the DC Universe. He works alone or sometimes works with other people. When written properly, this character is has a lot to offer. More than just his Time Sphere. We are going to slip into the time stream and take a look at the timeline of Rip Hunter.

Rip Hunter’s first appearance was in Showcase #20 in May of 1959 as a plucky young man who, along with his friend, figured out the secrets of time travel and invented the time sphere. He would appear in 3 more issues of Showcase along with his girlfriend, Bonnie Baxter, her brother Corky, and time sphere co-creator and mechanic Jeff Smith. After the successful run in Showcase, Rip Hunter his own series that ran from 1961 to 1965. After this 29 issue run of Rip Hunter and the Timemasters, he seemed to be relegated to a plot device to help heroes move through time....
