The upper limit is often a conditioned artificial ceiling. There is a lot to unpack but the short version is that through years of conditioning avoiding the cognitive dissonance, the feelings of inadequacy, the dips in Serotonin, and nagging reminders that we probably shouldn’t be going there.

The fact is that any goal is going to take you to a place you haven’t been - big goals - like pursuing your purpose and self-actualizing take you to very unfamiliar places. The more unfamiliar, the more the unconscious interprets it as danger.

So not only are we fighting the inherent obstacles to any goal worthwhile, we are also fighting against ourselves. We are strong enough to want the goal which makes us a worthy opponent - it’s no wonder these pursuits are full of stress. Above the line is will be a frequent topic because it is essential to master to live the life you design and will love living.
