The early disciples, were all Under Oarsman. Phil explains how as Disciples, we are all called to the Work of the Ministry. The word Huperetes (Gk) translates as Hupo (under) Eretes, (a rower).
These disciples were free men, not bond slaves. The emerging church is a powerful church, where each member is a contributor not a consumer. Where each member has an oar and is using it.
