After going over her many accomplishments and the serendipitous road she took to get to where she is today, we discuss flooding adaptation measures in Lagos, Nigeria, surveillance and the intersections between private profit and disaster capitalism (with an obligatory mention or two of the Shock Doctrine, of course). In this episode we're joined by Professor Hilde Coffé, from the University of Bath, to talk about the history, implications and roles of women in the far right. Focusing on Western Europe, Hilde's research looks at voting behaviour, policy decisions and public views of far right parties and radical right parties. We discuss the potential reasons for the gender gap in the far right, why some women still lean towards patriarchal, often mysoginistic, political parties and what has changed throughout the years in the countries she's observed.

Here we go again! This time it's proper, it's real, season 3 is officially starting! No more of the flippity floppity Season 2 days of Skander attempting to record without howler monkeys in the back and Jamie daydreaming of his dissertation on Gramsci. We'll acknowledge those were strange days, but now the bell's rung and school is back in kids! Expect new episode tiles, much more stable episode schedules and hopefully just as much depth and variety in our guests and topics.

We're coming out the gates strong with the first episode of the season by talking with Niklas Boers of TUK & the Potsdam Institute, one of the leading climate researchers of our time! Niklas discusses his work modelling the complex webs of systems of our planet and makes sure to include a Climate 101 about the AMOC. Expect talks of models, uncertainties, bad journalistic practice and a million tangents!

From discussions with the Swedish Prime Minister to organiser zoom calls and her indomitable striker spirit, we pick Isabelle's brain to find out her origin story, her experiences at the World Economic Forum in Davos and what the future of climate activism looks like to her.

In this episode, we talk to Benon Sevan, who retired as Under-Secretary General of the United Nations after a 40-year career. Benon was shared some of his favourite stories from Papua New Guinea, his 4 near-death experiences at the hands of insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as some insight as to what Kofi Annan was like as a friend. 

We've unfortunately had to slow down on episodes due to personal constraints (aka there aint much wifi in the jungle) but as we get back to our normal living in a couple weeks from this being written, that should change over the summer. So please keep us in mind from time to time as we've got a ton of episodes, infographics and audio essays - not to mention a whole documentary! - to show you.
