“Do not judge” may be one of the most quoted—and most misunderstood—statements Jesus ever made.

Was Jesus teaching Christians never to recognize sinful behavior or make moral judgments? In Matthew 7:1–6, Jesus doesn’t forbid discernment. He condemns hypocritical, self-righteous judgment.

Worry convinces us that everything depends on us. Jesus reminds us that we belong to a Father who already knows exactly what we need.

In Matthew 6:25–34, Jesus points toward the birds of the sky and the flowers of the field as evidence of God’s faithful care. His answer to anxiety isn’t pretending that tomorrow has no problems—it’s trusting that tomorrow remains in God’s hands.

What does Jesus mean when He tells us to turn the other cheek and go the second mile?

In Matthew 5:38–42, Jesus challenges our natural desire to retaliate, defend our pride, and give people only what they deserve. Instead, He calls His followers to respond to wrongdoing with grace, generosity, and a willingness to go beyond what is required.
