Boundaries

What happens when you stop making everyone else the priority?

In this episode, I’m talking about boundaries, self-respect, and becoming obsessed with yourself — not in a selfish way, but in a “I finally give a damn about me” way.

Sometimes protecting your peace means disappointing people. Sometimes growth means getting comfortable saying no. And sometimes you have to get so focused on becoming the best version of yourself that everybody else’s opinions stop running your life.

This is about choosing yourself without apology.

Who are you when you stop trying to be who everyone else expects you to be?

In this episode of Road to Recovery, I talk about identity—where it begins, the things that shaped mine, and what it means to finally walk in who I am at 46.

This conversation starts with sexual identity, but it goes much deeper. It’s about having a voice, being able to speak freely, choosing spaces where you can be yourself, and surrounding yourself with people who allow you to show up authentically—and who are willing to meet you there.

Because at some point, you have to ask yourself:

Who am I? Who do I want to be? And am I living as that person—or performing for everyone else?

Mommy & Daddy Issues

This episode gets personal.

I talk about where I came from—being born in Oklahoma, getting into trouble, gang banging, and eventually finding my way into the Word and toward God. But this isn’t a story about having everything figured out. I’m still struggling. I’m still questioning. I’m still growing.

I talk about what we carry from our beginnings, the people we’ve hurt, the apologies we may owe, and the freedom that comes from making peace with your past.

Your beginning may explain you, but it does not have to define you.

Be the peacemaker, not the peacekeeper.

And if you have the opportunity to apologize to someone you’ve affected, do it. Whether they accept your apology or not, you have done your part. You don’t need their forgiveness to release yourself.

Don’t let your beginning hold your present hostage or dictate your future. Use it to propel you forward.
