Middle school teams in volleyball, football, cross country, and tennis are gearing up, alongside new feeder programs for lower schoolers. In the third episode of the Westminster Christian Academy (WCA) Roar and Score Podcast, hosts JP Weaver and Spencer Breedlove take listeners “Inside the Soul of WCA Athletics.” This episode centers on the heart and purpose of the school’s athletic program, exploring the mission, vision, and the core LIONS values that guide every aspect of WCA sports and student-athlete development.

The mission of WCA Athletics is to honor God through excellence, character, and teamwork. Athletics are viewed as an extension of the school’s spiritual and academic goals, providing opportunities for students to grow in faith, leadership, and service.

The vision is to build a community where student-athletes are equipped to be leaders who reflect Christ’s love, both on and off the field. The program emphasizes holistic development—spiritually, academically, and athletically—preparing students to make a positive impact in their communities.

JP and Spencer discuss the five foundational LIONS values that define the culture of WCA Athletics:

• LEGACY: Building a lasting impact through actions that honor God and inspire future generations.
• INTENTIONAL: Approaching every practice, game, and relationship with purpose and focus.
