On this week's edition of Garden Forum, host Robyn Martin speaks with Leo Zlimen & Bowen Kyle from Nevada County, who are launching a new community emergency app for Nevada County residents called Ladris (pronounced "LAD-ris”) to keep residents informed about their wildfire risk, prepare for evacuations, & help with other community safety issues throughout the year.
Leo Zlimen & Bowen Kyle graduated from NU in 2017 before going off to UC Berkeley for college, where they founded Ladris, a startup specializing in AI & data integration. Now, they've returned home to use Ladris to help our community fight wildfires.
Also calling into the Garden Forum is Jo Ann Fites-Kaufman, retired fire scientist from the US Forest Service, with a PhD in Forest Resources from the University of Washington. In addition to over 24 years working for the US Forest Service, she has worked as a consultant for the Yuba Watershed Institute, the Fire Safe Council and as a community volunteer. With over 30 Firewise Community Fire Hazard and Risk Assessments she is dedicated to improving fire safety, healthier forests and air in Nevada County and beyond.
