Because it is the teaching of Christ that brings life and health to the church, we must reject the arrogance of false teachers who stir up controversy and bring division by their attempts to promote themselves and their opinions that are contrary to Christ and His Word I. Because Christ is Lord of all and we represent Him, believers must serve our earthly masters (bosses) well, even when we do not like our jobs, and especially when the boss is a Christian. I. Conflict can feel like an out-of-body experience. You watch it unfold but feel helpless to do anything. When it's over, you've got a mess, an ulcer, and a big question: "Where'd that come from?" James has an answer – but we may not like it. The problem lies within. There's conflict among us because there's conflict in us. Conflict exposes our hearts as unsettled, unsatisfied, and unsubmitted. In doing so, it shows us our need for the grace our Father so generously gives.

Because the church and it's witness matter, it is imperative that sin in a leader be dealt with no matter who he is or how popular, or how difficult it is to do. I. Church Leaders Must Act When There's Sin, No Matter How Hard It is! v 23 III .We Must Act with Discernment Because We Know All Sin Will Be Revealed. vv 24-25

Because elders are called to the hard work of leading the church and preaching the word, those who give themselves to this task faithfully must be supported adequately, protected from false accusation and publicly corrected if they fall into sin.

As we watch faithful Barnabas encouraging others, we can learn to adopt the grace and practice of encouragement toward others. This is the final sermon in our Family Camp 2026 series.

"Show up," we are responsible to meet with God's people and, as part of his body, to help each other in our sanctification. "Speak up," let the word of Christ dwell in you richly and speak it into the lives of others, for their good and edification. "Man up" in the face of all the objections that you can think of for not obeying God, don't willingly sin! It's a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
