Rocky Fortune "Prize Fighter Setup" (December 29, 1953)
Rocky is mistaken for "The Great Gondolfo," a prize fighter. Finding himself in the ring, Rocky's surprised to find that he's the winner! There's a good reason...and it's filled with poison! Gambler's want him to take the long count..."from here to eternity!" This is a network version of cat. #61853. Rocky is having a cup of coffee and minding his own business when two heavies come up to his table and make him an offer he can't refuse. Unfortunately, they seem to have mistaken him for someone else, but they don't believe Rocky when he protests. They take Rocky in a taxi to a cheap hotel downtime to meet the boss. The boss tells his heavies they have got the wrong guy, but by now Rocky is in too deep. Simon Templar meets a woman called Peggy on the bus and she asks his help for her boyfriend Breckon Ridge who is the manager of prizefighter Benny the Battler a lousy middleweight fighter who has no chance of winning the fight scheduled for that night. Ridge is concerned because all the gamblers are putting their money on Benny including a guy called Sweeny who doesn’t’ take kindly to been offered a bad deal.
