Roger Miller was an American singer, songwriter,musician and actor best known for his humorous novelty songs of the 60's and 70's era.

Although noted for his whimsical novelty songs, Miller did have another side to his songwriting.

Some of his ballads had very deep and meaningful lyrics which introduced him to a totally different audience.

He passed away from throat cancer at the age of 56 in 1992 and was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1995.
