Welcome back to Adventure Chat, brought to you by Rogue Overland!
In this episode, we're diving into one of the most misunderstood mods in the overlanding world β the snorkel. Everyone talks about snorkels for water crossings, but the main reason you need one is actually to keep dust out of your engine.
When you're out on the trail kicking up dust for miles, your engine is sucking in all that fine debris β unless you're running a snorkel. By pulling in cleaner air from a higher location, a snorkel helps protect your engine, improve performance, and extend its life.
We also touch on the secondary benefit of a snorkel: preventing water ingestion during river or creek crossings β because hydrolocking your engine is the last thing you want on an adventure.
ποΈ Topics Covered:
β How dust wrecks your motor
β Snorkel placement & airflow
β Water vs. dust protection
β Trail-tested insight from the field
